The Benefits of Lymphatic Massage
Discover How to Boost Energy and Immunity
COURSE DESCRIPTION: LYMPHATIC MASSAGE: A Powerfully Gentle Modality
Lymphatic Massage will greatly enhance your value as an LMT. There has been much mystery about the function of the lymphatic system, but at this time there is an explosion of research and knowledge about the tremendous importance of this system. This focus on the Lymphatic System and the key role it plays in our health and well-being has led to more and more interest in Lymphatic Massage.
Skilled Lymphatic massage is a gentle work, performed in a specific direction, using specific techniques, in a specific order. Many massage therapists have been trained to respect deep tissue massage and may have felt that massage performed at a lighter pressure is less effective...
If this is you, prepare to have your mind blown...well at least expanded.
If the cardiovascular system is Superman, then the Lymphatic System is Clark Kent, the unsung hero of our anatomical systems.
If you have any clients who are stressed, tired and wish they had more energy, then you know someone who will benefit from Lymphatic Massage Therapy. (Does this sound like almost everybody you know?) This work can be used to support and improve immune system function, boost energy levels, reduce fatigue, enhance relaxation – and more!
What will you learn in this class?
Most importantly you will learn how to design and implement a skilled Lymphatic Massage session for your specific clients and feel confident in doing so. This class includes plenty of HANDS-ON time to practice Lymphatic Techniques (based on the highly respected Vodder method of MLD). In addition to Vodder Techniques, you will learn how to determine appropriate pressure, direction of strokes, and order of strokes to provide effective, beneficial Lymphatic Massage. This includes:
Self-Massage for your own lymphatic well-being.
Upper and Lower body sessions.
Head and neck session.
We will also cover how to adjust Lymphatic Massage to work safely with someone who has a history of cancer and has had lymph nodes removed or affected by medical treatments.
How to work on someone safely who has a RISK to develop Lymphedema.
You will also learn:
The Anatomy and Function of the Lymphatic System.
The benefits of Lymphatic Massage.
Which conditions contraindicate Lymphatic Massage.
How Edema differs from Lymphedema.
How Lymphatic Massage differs from Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD).
How to promote Lymphatic Massage to your clients.
Because of increased scientific interest, more clients are curious about Lymphatic Massage, and now is an ideal time to add this “tool” to our LMT “toolbox”. In fact, it cannot be overemphasized that understanding how the Lymphatic System functions is fundamental to the work we do as massage therapists. Due to the increase in research, attention, and publicity about the valuable benefits of addressing lymphatic circulation, there has never been a greater demand for skilled Lymphatic Massage than right now!
